VOYAGE OVERSHIRT/INK PAINT VELVET

This is a handcrafted fabric, developed with care by Seya. Using a fluid rayon and silk velvet as canvas, carbon ink is brushed by hand onto the reverse side of the material. To make it happen, we cut the rolls into two-meter panels and paint each one by one. 
Because of the velvet's long fibers on the face, the ink travels through the fabric with restraint, never fully saturating the surface. The result is a collection of quiet ink lines that emerge softly on the front. The whole process takes its cue from the flow of traditional Chinese ink painting.

A loose overshirt designed with a versatile open collar that can also be worn standing. The garment features hidden side pockets and antique French bone buttons dating from the beginning of the 20th century.
