#07 KASHMERE

 

カシミールはインド北部、

パキスタンとの国境にある山岳地帯。

イスラム教徒が多く、ヒンズー教徒との争いが

歴史的に絶えない地域です。

もともとインドではなかったカシミールを

インドに統合したのは、ネルー首相の時代。

娘がカシミールの男性と恋に落ち、

結婚ができるように、ネルー首相が

カシミールをインドの一部にしたそうです。

今もテロが多発しているカシミールに行くのはとても危険なので、

私たちはその手前のアムリトサルまで行き、

カシミールで作られているパシミナ（カシミア）を

見せてもらいました。

 

荒れ果てたような街並みの、壊れかけたような建物の中で、

スーツケースの中にたたみもせずに入っていたカシミア。

染めを施していない自然色のカシミア、ベージュ、

黒い毛がそのまま混ざった白いカシミア。。

驚くほど柔らかいそれらが次第に床の上に

積み上げられていきました。

 

付近の織物アトリエでは昔ながらの織り機が

重い音を立ててゆっくりと動いていました。

街の店ではネルージャケットと呼ばれるネルー首相が

好んで着たスタンドカラーのジャケットを中心に、

インドらしい、安っぽい不思議なテーラー服が

並んでいます。街の男性もノースリーブの

ネルージャケット、ニットベスト、シャツ、と

イギリス植民地だった面影を残すテーラーアイテムに

インドのストールを巻いていました。

 

20AWのテーマ Kashmirは

この不思議なテーラーからのインスピレーションです。

北インドの人々のテーラースタイルは、

生地がどこか光っていて、またピンクや黄色やトルコ色という

インドらしい色をそこに組み合わせています。

イギリスの伝統的なgentlemanスタイルが

インドと混ざった感じがとても興味深いところです。
seya.ではカシミールの大地の色を、

発酵するときのインディゴの色にたとえMud Indigoと呼び、
今回のコレクションのベースカラーにしました。
素材は肌触りがとてもいいベルベットと

オリジナルで作ったしっかりしたシルクキュプラで
シャイニー感を出しています。

 

Kashmir is located on the northern side of India,

in the highlands near the Pakistan border.

Muslims are numerous, and the confrontation

between them and Hindu population has always been important.

Before, Kashmir was not part of India,

the region was annexed during Nehru’s era.

It is said that his daughter fell in love with a man from Kashmir,

and he made Kashmir part of India to allow her to marry him.

Kashmir is still dangerous today as terrorism occurs frequently,

so we went to the nearby city Amritsar

where they craft traditional pashmina fabric from cashmere.

Inside the collapsed city landscape,

we entered a fractured building where suitcases full of

unfolded pashmina stoles were politely presented to us.

Undyed cashmere yarns such as beige and black

mixes in with whiten ones.

These extraordinary soft fabrics were then

stacked up on the floor.

Next door, a traditional weaving machine in an atelier

were slowly running, making heavy noises.

In the town’s shops many odd Indian tailored clothing are

alined, inspired by « Nehru jackets »,

a kind of stand-up collar jacket appreciated by Nehru prime minister.

Items reminding India’s past as a british colony,

such as sleeveless jackets, knitted vests, shirts are worn combined

with Indian stoles by the men of the city.

 

Our 20 AW collection will have for initial inspiration

Kashmir’s odd tailor outfits.

Northern Indian’s tailored outfits consist of somewhat

shiny fabrics, combined with a typically Indian color touch

such as pink, yellow or turquoise. It is the mix

between british gentleman’s orthodox style and

Indian culture that is deeply fascinating.

At seya. we will be mixing Kashmir’s earth tones

with indigo’s fermentation color Mud Indigo,

for our collection’s core colors.

Fabric wise, we chose a very soft velvet,

and made an exclusive fabric crafted out of silk and cupra,

to express our shinines
