Cactus Light Shade
Cactus light shade handmade in Catamarca, Argentina.
This giant, perennial, green-colored cactus(Echinopsis Atacamensis)can be found in the high mountains of South America,
specifically the central regions of the Andes. Its average growth varies from1 cm to 5 cm per year. It can grow up to
10m in height during its lifetime. In order to prevent extinction, artisans are only permitted to acquire this cactus either
when it has already died or when it has been dried. This dried cactus is referred to as 'cactus wood'.Cactus wood is used
to manufacture furniture and decorative objects. During the colonial period, it was also used in the construction of
buildings. It takes extreme precision to cut these fragile roots and barter from the cactus. Roots and barter are th260only
part of the cactus that can be crafted.
THE LIGHT COME OUT FROM THE HOLES, WHICH ARE THE REMAINS OF CACTUS NEEDLES.
